A highly successful technology company that is growing both organically and through acquisitions is looking for a dynamic Accounting Manager to join their team. This is a newly created position and offers a unique opportunity to evolve into a Controller role with greater responsibilities and the chance to manage a larger team as the company scales.
The Accounting Manager will play a critical role in managing the company’s day-to-day accounting operations. Reporting to the VP of Finance, this position will initially supervise one direct report and will be responsible for the general ledger, monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash flows. This position will also assist with audits and contribute to the integration of acquired companies.
This is a hybrid role working in the office two days a week.
Accounting Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the accuracy of the general ledger
- Prepare and review accrual-based monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) for internal and external reporting
- Month-end close reconciliations and journal entries
- Preparation of budgets and forecasts in collaboration with leadership teams
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure the timely completion of audits, providing necessary documentation and responding to audit queries
- Assist in the integration of acquired companies into the financial reporting systems and provide accounting support during the acquisition process
- Manage inventory levels and analyze turnover
- Gross margin analysis
- Manage, mentor, and develop a growing team
- Continuously review and refine accounting processes to drive efficiencies, particularly as the company grows
- Ensure the organization adheres to IFRS, internal controls, and company policies
- Cross-Functional Collaboration working closely with other departments (operations, sales, and HR) to align financial strategies with company goals
Accounting Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, CPA preferred
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger management, financial reporting, and budgeting
- Strong understanding of GAAP; IFRS experience is a plus
- Technology or manufacturing industry experience is a plus
- Proficiency in SAP a big plus
- Strong Excel skills required (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas)
- Proven experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
- Experience supporting external audits and implementing audit recommendations
- Experience with acquisition accounting and post-acquisition integration is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to travel up to 10% as needed for acquisitions and business purposes
