What are the responsibilities and job description for the RF Network Engineer (SME) position at NextGen Federal Systems?
NextGen’s practice in Digital Engineering (DE) is growing. As such, we are seeking to hire RF Network Engineers with experience in modeling and simulation and / or digital engineering. NextGen’s DE team builds high fidelity Digital Twins employing Model Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) approaches in support of new systems development for commercial and DoD / Intel customers. Selected engineers will collaborate with fellow DE colleagues to solve complex technical tasks while becoming experts with and deploying cutting edge modeling and analysis tools. Requirements :
Must be able to obtain a DoD Clearance (U.S. citizenship is required)
Some limited travel may be required (25% or less)
Work on a cross-functional team to develop cutting-edge software solutions for DoD mission-critical programs, including communications and threat systems
Apply RF subject matter expertise to emulate high fidelity networks and RF design
Develop RF waveforms required to meet mission requirements
Work with mission modeler on impacts to Comms and overall mission
Work with software engineers to develop capabilities needed to emulate networks
Work with antenna engineer on antenna design needed
Serve as the go-to expert for end-to-end RF, network and waveform design
Develop, verify and optimize simulation environments for communications systems
Collaborate with teammates, customers, and partners in an Agile environment
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field
8 years of SME in RF and Network engineering
3 years in developing, modeling or analyzing Comms including 5G and / or Radar waveforms
3 years in Modeling & Simulation with a focus on networks and Comms
Worked with RF and network modeling tools such as MATLAB / Simulink, OPNET, Keysight EXata / QualNet, SystemVue or similar GOTS tools
Expert in RF performance analysis including impacts on Comms link budgets including throughput, latency, bit error rates, and resilience
Demo new RF emulation capabilities and work with team on integrations
Assist in trade studies of entities and their sensors, antennas, etc. to meet mission requirements
Mentor engineering teams in RF best practices, waveform analysis, and network simulation techniques
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to changing technical requirements
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
Desired Qualifications :
Proficiency in Python and C for simulation and automation purposes
Experience with AFSIM, STK, or similar M&S tools for system performance analysis
Experience with threat impacts on Comms systems and network performance
Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
Ability to create automated scripts and plugins to enhance M&S capabilities
