Construction Engineer - Bloomington, MN

Job Description

As a Construction Engineer in Wireless Construction, you will be responsible for building and maintaining America’s largest and most reliable cellular network. You will manage a variety of internal and external partners and vendors to oversee construction and maintenance for a regional network of cell site projects. Your role will ensure that these multi-stakeholder, complex projects are delivered on time, to specifications, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to establish project designs, scope, deliverables, and timelines.
- Develop and maintain detailed schedules for each project, managing scheduled tasks with outside vendors, including major milestones, action items, and long-lead purchases.
- Analyze schedule changes and take corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Provide regular project status reports to management and project teams.
- Coordinate and oversee RFQ issuance and evaluate responses, providing detailed analysis and recommendations.
- Manage regional network projects related to new 4G/5G Macro Construction, cell site modifications, expansions, reconfigurations, and system upgrades.
- Work closely with Real Estate, Equipment Engineers, and Facilities Engineers to proactively identify and resolve construction issues.
- Collaborate with vendors, including General Contractors, A&E firms, and Construction Management firms, ensuring compliance with VZW standards and local codes.
- Facilitate weekly planning sessions with key stakeholders and regional Operations Managers to define scope, track action items, and resolve issues.
- Issue purchase orders using PeopleSoft/Quick Bid and manage cost estimation, budget tracking, and cost accounting of capital plans.
- Review close-out packages to ensure projects meet quality standards and scope requirements.
- Manage regional monthly cell capital plan, ensuring spending accuracy and performing monthly reconciliation.
- Process service purchase orders and ensure timely invoice payments per federal and state regulations.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Three or more years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in project and process/program management.
- Proficiency in budget tracking, cost estimation, and capital planning.
- Telecom Construction experience.
- Strong computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Knowledge of Ericsson/Nokia/Motorola and DC plant design.
- Understanding of fiber installation and industry standards.
- Experience in the telecommunications, data networking, or wireless industry.
- Experience with 4G/5G Macro Cell implementation.
- Results-oriented mindset with a strong sense of urgency, proactiveness, and flexibility.
- Ability to manage a heavy workload, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
