Qualified Behavioral Health Provider (QBHP)

Purpose of Position

The Qualified Behavioral Health Provider (QBHP) establishes a supportive client relationship with the goal of empowering clients and their support network to actively participate in mental health treatment. The QBHP will provide clinical and behavioral interventions to reinforce, practice, and model therapeutic techniques and treatments as directed by the Mental Health Professional (MHP/Therapist) and found on the client’s Master Treatment Plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical and behavioral interventions as outlined in client’s Master Treatment Plan (MTP) while being guided and supervised by the treating Mental Health Professional (MHP/Therapist).
  • Serve as a part of the client’s treatment team providing pertinent input regarding client concerns, progress, needs, etc.
  • Establish positive relationship with client, family and their support network.
  • Work collaboratively with client’s network of supports to improve client’s chances of a positive outcome in treatment. (Examples include parents, teachers, DHS case workers, probation/FINS officers, and care coordinators.)
  • Make necessary referrals and service as a liaison with other agencies.
  • Model stability for client and family with regular sessions per MTP.
  • Encourage client compliance with established MTP.
  • Provide transportation to client and family as needed and appropriate to help ensure compliance with treatment.
  • Assists support staff as needed and appropriate in securing PCP referrals, parent/guardian signatures on necessary documents, reminding client of appointments with physicians and therapists, completing OPTUM assessments, etc.
  • Schedule QBHP Supervision and Observations as outlined by OBHS guidelines.
  • Document all QBHP Supervision and Observations to be reviewed and signed by MHP.
  • Document services rendered to clients (both billable and nonbillable) accurately, detailed and in a timely manner in the Electronic Medical Record (PIMSY).
  • Complete a minimum of 8 hours of Continuing Education Units yearly to be in compliance with OBHS standards for QBHPs.
  • Attend all required staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must complete initial 40 hours of training to become a certified QBHP.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance as driving is essential to the job.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a treatment team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to document accurately and professionally.
  • Possess good grammar and spelling.
  • Possess strong computer skills.

Education:

  • Degreed Qualified Behavioral Health Provider: Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in a related behavioral health field.
  • Non-Degreed Qualified Behavioral Health Provider: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
