Nexus Disposal is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented DOT Safety/HR Assistant to join our team. This position will support both the DOT Safety and Human Resources departments in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, maintaining employee records, and assisting with various HR functions. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Key Responsibilities
DOT Safety:
- Assist with maintaining and updating DOT compliance records and documentation.
- Schedule and coordinate DOT physicals, drug tests, and other safety-related screenings.
- Monitor and track driver qualifications and certifications.
- Conduct regular audits of DOT files and logs to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Assist with the preparation of safety training materials and programs.
- Support the investigation of accidents and incidents, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
- Manage and process fleet registrations and make sure all inspections are up to date.
Human Resources:
- Assist with the onboarding process for new employees, including orientation and paperwork.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS system.
- Assist with benefits administration, including enrollment and changes.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures.
- Support the recruitment process by posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.
- Assist with organizing employee events and recognition programs.
- Perform other HR-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in business administration, human resources, or related field preferred.
- Must be Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Prior experience in DOT compliance or human resources is required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and G Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Drive).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Salary : $18 - $20
