Job Title : Accountant 1

Employment Type : Contract

Work Hours : 40 hrs. / week

Work site : 100% Onsite

Location : 1372 East Main Street, Rochester, NY

Job Duration : 15 Weeks

Closing : 01 / 09 / 2025.

Minimum Education :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Work Experience :

  • Previous experience in accounting or financial operations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., Lawson) and standard accounting practices is a plus.

    • Job Duties :

  • Record daily cash, check, farebox deposits and credit card receipts in Lawson accounting system and reconcile to source detail.
  • Complete all monthly billing and collection of accounts receivable for RTS Monroe and Regional Operations.
  • Follow up as needed with delinquent customers regarding past due balances and bounced checks.
  • Assist with fare media (bus pass) escalations.
  • Assist with preparing journal entries for month-end and year-end closing.
  • Assist with fixed assets.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with documentation of procedures.
  • Assist with researching process improvements to enhance department efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    • Preferred Skills :

  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

    • Misc. Information :

  • Shift Days / Times : Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m.
  • Free parking is available at the worksite location.
  • The worksite location is on a bus route for public transportation.
  • Interviews will be conducted in person or online based on the availability.
