POSITION SUMMARY:
To develop the skills needed for the sandblasting and preparation of coaches for application of zinc corrosion inhibiting product. Operate the equipment needed (sandblasting equipment, airless spray equipment, pressure spray equipment, drills, etc.). Develop the skills needed for the cleaning and preparation of coaches for application of corrosion inhibiting products, operate the equipment needed (caulking guns, airless spray equipment, drills, etc.) to produce highest quality of corrosion protection.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Work from blueprints and process sheets/instructions to prepare the bus frame to be blasted.
- Adhere to safety procedures as they apply to all equipment used in this position with special attention to be working at heights, confined spaces, and working with abrasives which quickly wear down equipment.
- Become acquainted with and develop knowledge of preparation techniques for application of tube protection to the coach structure.
- Become acquainted with and develop knowledge of preparation techniques for application of undercoating to the coach structure.
- Become acquainted with and develop knowledge of equipment use for application of undercoating to the coach structure.
- Become acquainted with and develop knowledge for the application of undercoating on the coach structure.
- Develop knowledge of Quality specification for undercoating on the coach structure.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Possess a basic understanding about the surface preparation process, recognize and assess pre-blasted surfaces with the ability to read blueprints and process sheets.
- Have great interpersonal and communication skills.
- Previous experience with 5S and lean manufacturing would be considered an asset.
- Able to perform required duties with minimal supervision.
- Must be available to work Monday through Friday - 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM - Some Overtime required.
