What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Equivalency Education Instructor – DYS Northeast Region position at NFI Massachusetts, Inc.?
NFI Massachusetts Inc. is seeking a High School Equivalency Education Instructor for our DYS Community Based Services. This is a per diem position with hours ranging from 5-6 hours per week. Flexibility is expected outside of normal business hours to meet our students’ unique educational needs. This position is a best fit for a retired or semi-retired teacher looking for an opportunity to work with at-risk youth. Tutoring sessions with youth happen both in person and virtually. The salary range is $30-31 per hour. A minimum of 23 hours of in-person training is required.
Primary Objectives of the High School Equivalency Education Instructor:
- Create individualized curriculum for students based on academic goals and abilities; original lesson plans as well as plans provided.
- Provide individual instruction on core subjects (Math, Writing, Reading, Social Studies, and Science).
- Assess students using approved program and HiSET/GED materials.
- Adhere to all instruction, evaluation, funding, and execution policies and procedures.
- Ability to work with students using a virtual platform and/or hybrid model.
Requirements:
- Must be able to attend a minimum of 23 hours of in-person training provided by NFI and DYS.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; and one or two years of related teaching experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- MA teaching licensure preferred.
- Teaching Experience: Any content area: Grades 6-12; Adult Based Education and/or High School Equivalency Preparation.
- High energy level, superior interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
- Experience with developing virtual lesson plans (Google Classroom/ZOOM tutoring).
- Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Salary: $30-$31/hour
