Job Overview
The Safe Sports Network is seeking an Athletic Trainer with a start date of August 11, 2025 to cover a 10 week maternity leave at a secondary school. Candidate must be able to work after school, evenings and weekends. Hours will vary to meet the coverage needs of the fall sports schedules. Away football travel will be required.
This professional will work with students under the direction of the Safe Sports Program Director and Medical Director, along with the school's Athletic Director, to ensure student injuries receive prompt attention and care.
The Athletic Trainer will help coordinate and administer a comprehensive program of athletic training services for the interscholastic student-athlete.
This includes but not limited to the following: injury and illness prevention, wellness, promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions and referring students and their parents when additional medical care is needed for injuries.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Primary focus of the athletic trainer includes, but are not limited to the following:
- Use knowledge of sports-related injuries to diagnose and treat athletes, including referring them to the care of a doctor or other medical staff member.
- Act as a liaison between family, physicians and specialist, the school, student athletes, and their parents.
- Clearly document injuries, treatments, rehab, rehabilitation plans, and the medical testing using electronic medical record system (ATS). Communicate rehabilitation needs to athletic coaches as students are cleared to commence or restricted from athletic practices.
- Render athletic training services, indoor treatments as part of a healthcare team.
- Attend athletic practices and scheduled competition events to attend to any injured athletes during practice or competition. This may include some travel.
- Actively manage the schools concussion treatment program.
- Assist with inventory management and organization of supplies in the athletic trainers room.
- The athletic trainer will be expected to meet the physical demands of this position, such as walking, standing for extended periods of time, kneeling, bending, lifting, stretching, and climbing. Manual dexterity, visual, acuity, and hearing abilities are all required to successfully perform this job.
Experience
A bachelor’s degree and a valid NH state license and updated first aid and CPR certification are required.
