Senior Theatre Practitioner (Ref: 206338)

Full time - 37 hours per week
Band 6 - Salary Range £39,912 - £48,635 per annum
Distant Islands Allowance of £2,380 per annum and
Relocation Assistance of up to £8,000 is also available.
The Gilbert Bain Hospital is based in Shetland’s main town of Lerwick and provides general medical, surgical, rehabilitation and maternity inpatient services to a population of approximately 22,000. The hospital also has an extensive outpatient department which is supported by Visiting Specialist Consultants, A&E facilities and is the base for the majority of Allied Health Professionals.
We are looking for a proactive and motivated experienced scrub practitioner to come and join the theatre team.
As a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner, you will have current or previous theatre experience and you will enjoy working in partnership with the multidisciplinary team. You will provide a wide range of surgical nursing and specialty care, contribute to the development of the service and provide education and training to theatre nursing team.
You will ensure the theatre environment is safe and effective for delivery of elective and emergency care to adults and children. You will be responsible for liaising with the multi-disciplinary team. This responsibility will extend to care undertaken while organising and fulfilling the emergency on-call commitment for theatre.
There is an expectation that the post holder’s role will include daily management responsibilities in the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse.
