About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Medical Psychotherapy, working in the Regional Department of Psychotherapy based in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The successful candidate will provide face-to-face assessments and psychotherapy treatments, including individual and group sessions. They will also be involved in teaching and supervision, contributing to strategic leadership within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 16 hours per week of assessments and psychotherapy (individual/group) depending on service need.
- Offer psychotherapy supervision to doctors and other professions.
- Conduct reflective practice and indirect psychoanalytic work to support teams across the care pathway.
Requirements:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Qualification in medical education, clinical research, or management (especially in a field related to psychotherapy).
- Registered with BPC or UKCP as a psychodynamic or psychoanalytic psychotherapist.
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
