Part Time Science Professional Tutor - Technical Assistant

The Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) at SUNY Niagara is looking for individuals interested in tutoring our diverse population of students. Tutors will provide small group and individual tutorial assistance for existing course curriculum. The Professional Tutor bridges the gap between the college and the needs of the student. This position also helps students make academic progress, while promoting independent learning and self-reliance. Tutors assist tutees in developing and improving their competency in course work; and help students integrate and apply effective study skills, active reading and note-taking, test-taking strategies, and time management and organizational skills to their specific courses. Tutors also work inside the classroom as embedded tutors; tutor students in specific content areas; and provide online tutoring services to students enrolled in distance learning courses. Tutor's are expected to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students, members of the college community and the public.Professional Tutors for science are expected to assist students in one or more of the following content areas:Anatomy & PhysiologyEngineering ScienceGeneral BiologyHuman BiologyMicrobiologyPhysicsThe rate of pay is based on the level of education the candidate possesses. For a Bachelor’s degree or lower the rate of pay will be $21.22 per hour. For a Master’s degree or higher the rate of pay will be $23.34 per hour.In-Person tutoring hours can occur Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 7:00pm.
