The ideal candidate will manage a technician team ensuring the smooth execution of assigned projects while maintaining compliance with safety regulations, project specifications, and industry standards. This role focuses on upholding TIA/BICSI standards and local building codes. The Superintendent coordinates with site Foremen and Lead Technicians, fostering effective communication with management, Project Managers (PMs), and team members to deliver high-quality results.
Resources
- Collaborate with PMs to forecast resource needs, including project durations and personnel requirements.
- Collaborate with other superintendent(s) to assign technicians to jobs as required by PMs and manage service requests.
- Work with the PMO Manager and SS Manager to acquire necessary personnel.
- Escalate resource shortages to the SS Manager.
- Collaborate with other superintendent(s) to Maintain and update the resource scheduling system to ensure optimal team allocation.
- Assign appropriate foreman, technician, and apprentice ratios for job-site crews.
Safety Oversight
- Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety rules and procedures.
- Coordinate biweekly toolbox safety meetings and track attendance signatures.
- Perform weekly safety inspections for assigned job sites and maintain safety logs and checklists.
- Ensure safety equipment and tools are in proper working condition.
Tools
- Ensure tools are certified, calibrated, and maintained before expiration.
- Confirm technicians are trained in proper tool usage.
- Monitor the condition of tools and request replacements or new purchases as needed.
Quality of work
- Ensure installations comply with TIA/BICSI standards and local regulations.
- Conduct regular visits to assigned projects to verify adherence to NICP job standards, including:
- Communications (Daily updates)
- Labeling
- Documentation (test results, as-builts)
- Photos
- TIA and BICSI standards
Supervisory
- Participate in interviews and make hiring recommendations.
- Provide training and assist in coordination with technician development.
- Monitor employee productivity, set expectations, and provide constructive feedback.
- Recommend personnel actions, including promotions, disciplinary measures, or terminations, to the SS Manager.
- Hold technicians accountable for timeliness, quality, tool readiness, and accurate time reporting.
Experience/Education:
· High School diploma or equivalent
· Familiarity with voice, data, and video infrastructure products, services and applications
· 10 years of experience preferably within the low voltage cabling industry, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience
· BICSI certifications (Current or in progress)
· Must have a valid driver license
· RCDD is not required but is a plus.
Salary : $80,000 - $118,000
