Position Title: Marching Band Competitive Percussion Caption Head
Reports To: Director of Bands
Position Statement: Marching Band Percussion Caption Head is an integral part of the
marching band staff. Helps in rehearsal planning, show design, and in implementing a visual
technique in conjunction with the head director. This position will oversee all things percussion
related for the marching band. (equipment, personnel, extra music rehearsals/performances etc)
Essential Functions:
Attends all competitions (approximately 4) and home football (TBD) games as needed
- Attends all rehearsals during the course of the season.
- Attends at band camp. Dates and times TBD by director.
- Implements marching/music technique in a full ensemble and sectional setting.
- Teaches and cleans drill responsibilities.
- Runs rehearsals both visually and musically in sectionals.
Skills: Individual should be a strong leader in music and the marching arts with excellent skills
in conducting, marching, choreography, and performance. Must have extensive experience in
the marching art/ Marching percussion teaching and marching experience. (DCI, WGI, college
marching band, etc).
Calendar: Late July through October
Hours Per Week: Approximately 6 Hours per week
Building: West
Performance Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with
provisions of the District evaluation procedures.
