What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabric Development Assistant position at Nili Lotan New York?
Nili Lotan is looking for a Fabric Development Assistant to join our growing team. This position works closely and collaboratively with the Development Fabric Manager and will support in all areas related to fabric sourcing and development. This is a 4 day a week role, temporary to permanent.
Responsibilities:
- Receiving sample fabric: receive, tag, and maintain sample fabric reference swatches and inventory.
- Maintain and organize sample fabric storage / studio space.
- Help facilitate moving of sample fabric rolls from studio to Garment Factory warehouse space.
- Assisting in the creation of fabric swatch cards and fabric boards for Design and Product Development teams.
- Assisting in the creation and maintenance of fabric cutting rack and fabric cuttings passed off to Production Fabric department upon end of season.
- Pricing fabric swatches.
- Maintain and organize the fabric library.
- Assist with sourcing locally for sample fabric.
- Assisting in pickup and drop offs in Midtown fabric suppliers, trim suppliers, agents, and garment factories.
- Work cross functionally with production / design
- Create fabric codes and assist the upkeep and maintenance of sampling fabric chart, sampling yarn order chart.
- Daily communication, monitoring and follow up on fabric orders with Mills: timing, sending out packages with color standards, Fabric Detail Sheet request
Requirements/ Qualifications:
- Previous experience in fabrics/design ideal
- Degree in textile development, fabric, fashion design or related
- Knowledge and understanding of the product development process
- Strong sense of organization and attentive to detail
- Able to manage multiple tasks at once
- Strong in Excel / Microsoft office
- Knowledge of fabric qualities
- Knowledge of RLM is a plus
- Strong understanding of color
- Effective time-management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to partner cross functional and design effectively
