We are seeking a versatile Fuel Cell Engineer - Development / Controls to join our growing team. In this role, you will contribute to the development and integration of hydrogen fuel cell systems, from test stand prototypes to large-scale truck engines. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in control systems engineering, electrical components, and automotive communication protocols. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of control systems for hydrogen fuel cell test stands and integrate them into larger truck engine platforms.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to design and implement electrical and software control systems for fuel cell stacks.
- Utilize tools such as LabVIEW, MATLAB/Simulink, and Python to develop control algorithms, including model predictive control (MPC), PID loops, and state machine logic.
- Perform Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing to validate control system functionality.
- Develop and modify system wiring diagrams, including P&ID and electrical line drawings for fuel cell test carts.
- Implement and manage CANBUS or other automotive communication protocols for system control and data transmission.
- Optimize system performance by automating test cycles for hydrogen fuel cells, reducing manhours, and improving efficiency.
- Collaborate with external suppliers to validate and customize system components, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in control systems development, preferably within the hydrogen fuel cell or other heavy duty automotive sectors.
- Proficiency in LabVIEW, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and other control software tools.
- Strong understanding of automotive communication protocols like CANBUS, XCP, RS232 or equivalent.
- Experience in system testing methodologies such as SIL, HIL, and control system simulations.
- Knowledge of electrical components and schematic development.
- Familiarity with safety standard is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
- Hands-on experience with hydrogen fuel cell systems.
- Familiarity with New Eagle Raptor automotive controllers.
- Experience with cloud-based data systems (AWS) and data visualization tools (Power BI).
- Familiarity with test stand development and large-scale truck engine control systems.

Salary : $75,000 - $100,000
