Position Overview:
As a Fuel Cell Engineer - Test Engineer at Nimbus Power Systems, you will be responsible for testing fuel cell engine components from concept through production. This role requires a strong background in LabVIEW-based control software (or equivalent) to manage test systems and collect data. You will play a key role in verifying the performance, safety, and reliability of hydrogen fuel cell systems, working hands-on with the hardware and compressed gases. We are seeking individuals who are proactive, detail-oriented, and excited to take on the challenges of this growing field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute comprehensive testing on fuel cell engine components, from prototype through production, ensuring the highest levels of performance and safety.
- Develop and implement control algorithms and test protocols using LabVIEW. MATLAB/Simulink experience is a plus.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to adapt test plans and integrate findings into the design and manufacturing processes.
- Handle the setup, wiring, and maintenance of electrical systems, including AC/DC voltages, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
- Responsible for maintenance and upgrades of test carts.
- Work with compressed gases such as hydrogen, air, oxygen, and nitrogen in a laboratory environment, ensuring safe handling and compliance with safety protocols.
- Collect, analyze, and manage test data, utilizing Power BI and similar tools to report and visualize key performance indicators.
- Assist in the continuous improvement of test systems and protocols, contributing to the development of new methodologies for fuel cell testing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment, ideally with fuel cells or related technologies.
- Proficiency in LabVIEW is required, with additional experience in MATLAB/Simulink as a plus.
- Hands-on experience with hardware, including electrical wiring and mechanical assembly.
- Strong understanding of AC/DC voltages and familiarity with the associated safety standards.
- Comfortable working with compressed gases (hydrogen, air, oxygen, nitrogen) in a safe and controlled manner.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward learning and task execution.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with test data handling and reporting tools such as Power BI.
- Experience with hydrogen fuel cell systems.
- Familiarity with CANBUS or other automotive communication protocols.
- Eagerness to become forklift certified is a plus.
