QC Manager - Steel Fabrication Must have CWI

Nino Development is a leading construction and fabrication company specializing in high-quality steel projects. We are seeking an experienced QC Manager - Steel Fabrication to join our team in Modesto, CA. In this role, you will ensure that welding quality and dimensional accuracy in structural steel fabrication meet industry standards and client specifications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in quality control, welding inspection, and structural steel fabrication processes.

Position Overview:
The QC Manager - Steel Fabrication will oversee the daily quality control processes, ensuring that all welds and materials meet contract requirements and industry codes. This position requires a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and will be responsible for conducting inspections, managing corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards such as AISC. The QC Manager will work closely with the fabrication team, project managers, and third-party inspectors to maintain high-quality standards throughout the fabrication process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily quality control checks to ensure all structural steel fabrication meets contract specifications.
• Track and manage repairs, non-conformance issues, and corrective actions.
• Develop and submit welding procedures and qualifications.
• Verify that materials, parts, and consumables meet established quality standards.
• Review structural drawings, job specifications, and coordinate with RFIs (Requests for Information).
• Schedule and conduct welder qualification tests, ensuring all certifications are up-to-date.
• Ensure compliance with American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) standards and prepare for internal/external audits.
• Conduct detailed inspections, document findings, and collaborate with third-party inspectors to ensure compliance.
• Support shop personnel by providing guidance on interpreting drawings and maintaining quality control standards.
• Manage and maintain welding certification logs and documentation for inspection.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification through the American Welding Society (AWS) is required.
• 10 years of experience in quality control within steel fabrication or a related field.
• Extensive knowledge of fabrication standards, procedures, and industry codes.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to detect discrepancies in welding quality or materials.
• Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and inspections.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to implement corrective actions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with fabrication teams, project managers, and third-party inspectors.
