GENERAL SUMMARY
The Behavioral Health Outreach Manager's primary role is to develop an outreach program and provide substance abuse prevention strategies to youth and families in the Nisqually Community. This position will coordinate prevention-based services to youth, families, school personnel and community stakeholders. The BH Outreach Manager will work closely with ICW, Nisqually Behavioral Health, Youth Wellness Center staff and the Nisqually Health Department. This will report to the Behavioral Health Director.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform. · Provides community education and engage in prevention activities, including relationship building with schools and community groups, outreach to marginalized groups at risk of substance use, and develop and facilitate prevention workshops.

· Collaborates to promote a team culture that recognizes, understands, and respects each client's point of view, experiences, and preferences.

· Provides peer counseling support consultation, practical help and support, mentoring, advocacy, coordination, problem-solving, direct assistance, supervision, and side-by side support to clients and their families.

· Serve as liaison with community resources; carry out rehabilitation and support functions; and assist in treatment, substance abuse services, education, support, consultation to families, and crisis intervention.

· Helps adults and youth move past substance use to create healthy mindsets and a path to wellness.

· Participates in verbal de-escalation and physical interventions in emergent situations and assist other staff as needed to maintain a safe, healing environment for all.

· Collaborates with the Nisqually Opiate Task Force Team.

· Travels locally to provide outreach to members served in the community or those who may be incarcerated.

· Completes necessary charting, in-take forms, and other documentation as required.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

· Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or closely related field or five years' experience working with youth/adults in mental health or substance use disorder setting and an Associate's degree.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills.

· Demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving, and time management skills with ability to work independently, with flexibility with prescribed deadlines.

· Experience coordinating and organizing trainings, partnership building, networking with agencies and organizations, and community outreach.

· Current WA State License for Substance Use Disorder Professional.

· Two years' experience in program development.

· Must be able to successfully pass a thorough background investigation and a pre-employment drug screen.

· Valid Washington State driver's license and be insurable under the Nisqually Indian Tribe's insurance policy.

· Must have current CPR certification or be able to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience working in outreach role in tribal communities.

This position may supervise.

· Knowledge of HIPPA and 42 CFR Pt. 2

· Ability to work effectively with Nisqually children and families.

· Recovery focused, strengths-based work in mental health/addition recovery.

· Work with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
· Operation of personal computer and the use of job-related software.
