The Manager Research Director plays a critical role in leading research into third party investment offerings including mutual funds, ETFs, and separately managed accounts (SMAs). This position serves as the subject matter expert for manager due diligence, developing processes and frameworks to be used by the investment team. The Manager Research Director works closely with the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to deliver value-added investment results. This position is responsible for maintaining a universe of equity, fixed income, and alternative managers. The Manager Research Director will also develop processes and tools for use by the entire investment staff in manager research.

Essential Job Responsibilities:- Develop a formal framework for manager research and selection including:
- Clear and defined framework for new manager selection.
- Enhance quantitative and qualitative techniques in evaluating investment opportunities.
- Analyze philosophy, process, people, organization, returns, risk, and cost.
- Create a template to provide detailed analysis/evidence/financial models supporting all investment ideas for investment team deliberation.
- Develop a standardized, definable, measurable, and repeatable process for manager analysis for presentation to Trustees and Clients.
- Process for maintenance and "use" of stock manager that does not result in an immediate actionable idea.
- Clear and defined framework for new manager selection.
- Develop a framework for ongoing maintenance/analysis of existing managers in NP Model Portfolio, including:
- Define process that provides up to date/timely views/opinions about all holdings in NP Model portfolio.
- Apply NPTC's formal framework for manager research/selection to existing holdings.
- Contribute to efforts to improve or modify NPTC's research framework.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date Manager List, including measures of relative attractiveness of each NP Model Portfolio holding.
- Establish annual manager research goals, including:
- Target number of "actionable" ideas on an annual basis.
- Quantify target relative performance goals vs. appropriate benchmark (S&P 500).
- Maintain "Model" portfolio for performance tracking purposes.
- Research and contribute to asset class views, sector, and security views.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- 7-10 years of relevant professional experience in manager research and due diligence.
- Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree and/or CFA preferred. Work experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
- Excel and PowerPoint expertise with experience in Morningstar, Bloomberg and/or FactSet. A strong desire to become more proficient with these applications.
- Logical decision-making skills. Ability to identify key drivers and efficiently, effectively assess the risk/reward of investments.
- A team player who sees tasks/projects through to completion in a timely manner.
- Strong interest in wealth management and trust companies.
- Strong ability to perform financial statement, business, and valuation analysis.
- Ability to translate research into actionable ideas for client portfolios.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Self-starter with a results-driven personality.
- Ability to travel, as needed.
