POSITION PURPOSE
Nizari Progressive Federal Credit Union (‘Nizari PFCU') is a member-owned financial institution with about $400 million in assets. We serve over 18,000 members. With an established management team, Nizari PFCU is seeking a highly motivated and experienced accountant for its accounting department who will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The credit union is seeking a candidate with experience in all aspects of the accounting area, including corporate statement reconciliation, general ledger, accounts payable, financial statements, and other accounting area-related duties & responsibilities. Successful candidates will have hands-on accounting experience and routinely take independent action and exercise independent judgment.
FUNCTION
- Prepare investment portfolio reports and presentations on a monthly and quarterly basis for the ALM Committees.
- Ensure compliance is strictly adhered to for all Investment Policies. Periodically review and update the policies.
- Review and analyze portfolio allocation shifts.
- Prepare and reconcile monthly investment accrued income from subsidiary GL to control GL.
- Recording the investment coupon entries into accounting software.
- Assist CFO with regulatory reporting and special projects including, but not limited to, the annual budget and forecast, financial statements, NCUA 5300 Call Report, and Asset Liability Management Model.
- Perform monthly Balance sheet account reconciliations (e.g., Intangibles, Bank Accounts, Prepayments, Fixed Assets, Accruals, Accrued Liabilities, WIP, and payables).
- Daily reconciliation of all Suspense and Bank Accounts, reconciles general ledger accounts as assigned by Supervisor.
- Monthly maintenance of the mortgage loan escrow account reconciliation.
- Assist in the research for a significant variance in the monthly P&L.
- Quarterly Non-Interest Fee analysis from the peers
- Work on any special projects which the supervisor may assign.
- Review and prepare employee expense reimbursements for management approval, ensuring all supporting documentation is attached. Record branch allocation and general ledger posting.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education / Certification : A four-year degree in Accounting / Finance is required.
Preferred Knowledge : Investment and ALM
Experience Required : 2 years of credit union or financial institution experience are required, and 5 years of experience is preferred.
Skills / Abilities : Attention to detail, excellent communication, and public relations skills.
Professional appearance and attitude.
Strong analytical skills. Ability to research and solve problems effectively
Ability to operate related computer applications and other business equipment, including calculators, printers, telephones, and notary stamps.
Microsoft office and outlook.
Good typing skills.
