We've spent years growing our 3-million follower social media audience by creating content from within our core news business, and we're ready to take the next step to reach New Jerseyans. We want to go from being the news organization of record to the news organization of interest, and that's where you come in.
The Senior Social Media Innovator will pitch, develop and create social media videos, series and graphics that our audience will like, share, engage with, and find essential in their daily online lives. We're not looking for someone to retell news stories. We are looking for someone eager and confident to be on camera and show us how to take big swings on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Personality-driven content, recurring series and partnership collabs will be in the mix, and being comfortable in front of the camera is a must. You'll be responsible for diversifying our social media strategy for the present and the future, which includes scaling audience, engagement, and revenue.
In this role, you'll report to our Social Media Manager while working closely with other social and video producers. You'll lead the team on some initiatives and will lead projects that will show our existing team new ways to drive monetization of social media. Our team generally works remotely, although this position will require you to work from our Woodbridge, NJ office as needed and requires reliable transportation to travel within the state as part of the content creation process.
The base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 annually.

- At least 5 years working in social media
- A passion for creating entertaining and shareable content
- A demonstrated history of building audiences and growing brands
- The ability to identify content that will engage and grow our audience
- Proven experience in monetizing through social media
- An understanding of social media analytics and experience optimizing content
- The ability to write clean, creative, and engaging copy
- The ability to solve complex problems and take accountability
- The ability to manage projects and present information clearly and quickly
- The ability to work independently as needed and prioritize multiple tasks appropriately
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Familiarity with social publishing and listening tools like Social News Desk, Dash Social, Newswhip
