Roles and Responsibilities:
- Compiles reports covering PTC operations for the Federal Railroad Administration and internal use.
- Assists with project controls such as scheduling, invoicing, and contract compliance
- Oversees PTC Wayside, and Onboard, Signal, Communications, Back Office Procedures, Documentation and Tenant Railroads, test, evaluation, maintenance, and lifecycle support as assigned.
- Assists in the direction and oversight of all assigned elements of the implementation of Positive Train Control (PTC) throughout the NJT Rail Operations footprint in accordance with the FRA mandate.
- Assist in the development of testing methodologies to ensure all PTC Elements (Wayside, and Onboard) comply with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) safety certification, NJT, and other government standards.
- Oversee the analysis of systems designs and specifications created by engineering staff for accuracy and completeness, review and approve design modifications ensuring seamless integration with PTC onboard equipment and recommend or make changes as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Engineering, Computer Science or related area, or equivalent.
- Five (5) years of Railroad or PTC experience in various disciplines may be substituted for a degree.
Knowledge and Skills:
Essential:
- Demonstrated capacity to work cooperatively in a team environment and with a customer focus required.
- Strong analytical, organizational, time management, and communication skills are required.
Preferred:
- Three (3) years of experience, both in the field and at the desk, in railroad or transit operations is strongly preferred.
- Railroad and/or PTC experience is strongly preferred.
