What are the responsibilities and job description for the Court/Legal Advocate position at NJAC?

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide individual specialized support counseling and advocacy to victims of domestic violence at court in Camden County
  • Maintain correct contracts for community resources needed by domestic violence victims
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all superior personnel
  • Provide casework and counseling referral to participants
  • Participate in staff meetings and the screening process for prospective residents
  • Prepare and maintain client records including social histories, chronical reports, case summaries and additional information as needed
  • Collect statistical data and submit weekly reports to the Program Supervisor
  • Whenever appropriate advocacy and referrals for clients seeking housing, legal advice, etc. while encouraging and facilitating clients' independent action
  • Performed other duties as assigned

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Individuals must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a currently registered insured automobile.

Educational Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree from a 4 year college or university; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Math Ability:

Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Computer/Typing Skills:

Strong computer skills including Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.

This job has not supervisory responsibilities
