Coliseum is an action-packed summer camp that offers campers a mix of adventure, creativity, and teamwork through rock climbing, swimming, outdoor games, and arts & crafts. Position Summary:
We are looking for a Head Counselor to lead and support our team of senior and junior counselors while overseeing the planning and execution of camp activities. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader who can organize schedules, manage staff, and ensure that all campers have a fun, safe, and enriching experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise & Support Counselors: Guide, mentor, and oversee senior and junior counselors to create a positive camp environment.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure proper supervision for all activities, including rock climbing, swimming, outdoor games, and arts & crafts.
- Activity Planning & Execution: Organize and oversee engaging activities, ensuring campers have a well-rounded experience filled with adventure, creativity, and teamwork.
- Camper Engagement & Safety: Monitor camper well-being, enforce safety protocols, and address any behavioral or health concerns.
- Rock Climbing & Swimming Oversight: Work closely with certified instructors to ensure that rock climbing and swimming activities follow safety standards and guidelines.
- Communication & Team Leadership: Serve as a liaison between counselors, camp leadership, and parents when needed.
- Crisis Management: Respond to any emergencies, conflicts, or unexpected challenges in a calm and professional manner.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a camp, youth program, or leadership role.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage schedules and staff.
- Enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about outdoor adventure and creative activities.
- Ability to effectively lead and engage with campers in various settings, from high-energy games to hands-on arts & crafts projects.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before camp starts).
