Job Description
Purpose : To support development of Financial Budget and Actual Power BI model that meets stake holder requirements and delivers dynamic and user-friendly reporting and dashboards. The final model will replace resource intensive processes in place today and equip the team to manage the model independently to ensure design flexibility for future enhancements.
Background and / or Current State : Standard financials are download and then further mapped and manipulated to aggregate data in a different hierarchy to present to leadership for decision making and meet financial reporting needs for the organization. The Current process is inefficient and labor intensive. To achieve the goal of dynamic reporting as well as the organization’s initiative to bring data to the data hub, this project was started in 2024 but has not yet been completed. Budget data from PBCS and actual data from CFS now reside in Redshift. A PBI data model has been started but requires further enhancements to allow the model to be used more broadly and accurately.
Scope of Engagement :
- Strong proficiency in data modeling, report building, and data visualization and reporting
- Ability to organize and structure data to be easier to work with and understand; design interactive Power BI dashboards; and ability to transform numbers and metrics into actionable insights
- Expertise in DAX functions including complex formulas
- Training and Support : Ability to guide and teach others on how to use Power BI effectively, specifically on the above, ensuring long term stability
- Working knowledge of data warehouse role around integrations with Power BI
- Ability to think strategically about long term sustainability for the model and reporting requirements
- Adhere to data compliance and governance standards
