What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Educator position at Noah's Ark Children's Center?
Starting pay is dependent on current education in Early Childhood Education/Child Development (or a related field) and/or experience working in licensed centers.
Overview: The person selected for this position will be responsible for the general supervision, management and care of children between the ages of 2 weeks and 12 years of age. These job responsibilities represent only the essential and most significant duties of the position; other duties may be expected and/or assigned to you.
Requirements:
Shall be at least 18 years of age
Have a high school diploma or GED
Have a signed physical form from a physician no more than 30 days after hire date, and every two years after.
Have documentation that they are free from communicable tuberculosis within one year before employment.
Have a current certification in infant/child/adult CPR & first aid and have blood- borne pathogen training; as soon as possible.
Be able to pass a background check, including fingerprinting.
Maintain annual training hours of 24 clock hours per year to be completed in monthly increments of at least 2 hours per month.
Primary Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Development:
Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing the classroom for the children in your care in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the Center and the State of Michigan.
Assist with the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the classroom; if asked.
Assist in the discipline in the classroom, in accordance with rule 107 of Public Act 116.
ALL CORPORAL PUNISHMENT IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. (Refer to Discipline Policy in the handbook.)
Teaching and Evaluating:
Cooperatively plan and teach with lead teacher and instructional team.
Be familiar, and in compliance, with all Michigan licensing rules for child care centers.
Be familiar with the CLASS and the Great Start to Quality STARS Program.
Must be familiar with the parent and staff handbooks.
Help assess programs based on current research and developmentally appropriate practices and make recommendations for improvement.
Maintain open and regular communication with the Director and Lead/Assistant Teacher(s).
Professional Responsibilities:
Maintain prompt hours: notify Director in the event of illness or emergency as soon as possible. Be responsible for acquiring a substitute in case of illness or leave. If you are continuously late you will be written up.
If you call in repeatedly, you will be written up and put on probation.
Maintain a neat, clean and appropriate appearance, in compliance with the Center’s dress code
Work cooperatively with other staff members.
Attend ALL STAFF MEETINGS and recommended TRAINING PROGRAMS.
Maintain “professional” attitudes and loyalty to the Center at all times.
Assume an equal shareof joint housekeeping responsibilities, to include your classroom, all center storage areas, and the playground.
Assist in and attend ALL public- relations events, fundraisers, etc. sponsored by the Center.
Classroom:
Keep an accurate count of children at all times.
Children must be properly supervised at all times.
Maintain a clean and safe environment at all times; closets must be organized and clean, teacher desks/counters must be clutter free and organized.
Complete responsibilities of the children primarily assigned to you (toileting, feeding, small groups, etc.)
Maintain communication to parents with the Lead/Assistant Teacher(s).
Actively interact with children during daily activities including play, outdoor time, motor movement, Music, and Chapel.
Make sure room is tidy and clean/sanitized at the end of the day and is prepared for the next day.
Physical Demands:
This position requires the following physical activities: pushing, pulling, climbing, walking, standing, squatting, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, lifting, bending, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity; inside and outside in various temperatures.

Pay: $13.00 - $14.50 per hour
