Overview
The Certified Peer Specialist plays a vital role in supporting individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges. This position leverages lived experience to foster hope, resilience, and recovery among clients. As a peer specialist, you will provide guidance, support, and advocacy while promoting self-determination and empowerment. Your unique perspective will help bridge the gap between clients and services, ensuring they receive the comprehensive care they need.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to individuals navigating mental health or substance use challenges.
  • Utilize personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and motivate clients toward their recovery goals.
  • Facilitate group sessions that promote peer support and shared experiences.
  • Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills through mentoring.
  • Collaborate with mental health professionals to create individualized recovery plans.
  • Conduct crisis intervention when necessary, ensuring client safety and well-being.
  • Educate clients about available resources and services within the community.
  • Advocate for clients' needs within various systems, including healthcare and social services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in compliance with organizational policies.

Requirements

  • The position has a requirement of a shared experience. A shared experience is defined as personally utilizing privately or publicly funded behavioral health services, to include substance abuse treatment.
  • Completion of Peer Support Training and Peer Support Certification.
  • Posses a high school diploma or a high school equivalent diploma.
  • Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card or ability to obtain an Arizona fingerprint clearance card.
  • A current Arizona Driver License and a current satisfactory 39-month Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • NegativeTuberculosis Test
  • Background Check
  • Minimum 1 year recovery from drugs and/or alcohol or mental health.
  • CPR and first aid certification

This position is ideal for individuals passionate about helping others achieve their recovery goals through shared experiences and support.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $16.00 - $21.52 per hour

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Morning shift

Experience:

  • Addiction counseling: 1 year (Preferred)

Ability to Commute:

  • Phoenix, AZ 85015 (Required)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Phoenix, AZ 85015: Relocate before starting work (Required)
