Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to patients in a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with daily living activities, ensuring the comfort and safety of patients, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care. This role is vital in enhancing the overall patient experience and promoting their well-being.
Duties
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff promptly.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, fostering a positive environment.
- Help with mobility assistance, including transferring patients in and out of beds or wheelchairs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in patient areas, ensuring a safe environment.
- Document patient care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams in various settings including Level I and Level II Trauma Centers, PICU, Geriatrics, Inpatient, Emergency medicine, Teaching hospitals, Outpatient services, OR, and Hospital medicine.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and understanding of patient care practices.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments such as emergency medicine or trauma centers.
- Strong communication skills to interact compassionately with patients and families.
- Physical stamina to assist patients with mobility and perform tasks that require standing for extended periods.
- Certification as a Personal Care Assistant or relevant training is a plus but not mandatory.
