General Summary:
The Field Service Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining industrial batteries, chargers and battery handling equipment in a timely and efficient manner at the customer’s site for Indiana. The Field Service Technician is also responsible for investigating and resolving a customers technical issues and providing recommended solutions to issues uncovered. Service Technician will also be required to learn Stationary Division equipment, installation, troubleshooting and support.
Primary Responsibilities:
Includes but not limited to:
- Follows all company policies and procedures as listed, but not limited to: safety, environmental, OSHA, DOT Hazmat, and ISO9000.
- Operates material handling equipment per OSHA requirements.
- Enter test results in ERP CRM (Greentree) and upload written forms.
- Work within the ERP CRM system (Greentree) to perform time sheet information, stock adjustments, inventory disbursements, and work performed in shop.
- Removes and disassembles cells and inspects parts to detect defects, replaces defective parts, reassembles battery, which includes use of a gas torch to reconnect lead straps in the battery.
- Fills cells with acid solution and determines specific gravity of solution.
- Perform Battery Testing and Evaluations – Schedule and prioritize incoming evaluations of batteries and chargers.
- Perform load test on all returned demo/rental batteries and update ERP system CRM with info.
- Perform quote of necessary repairs on industrial batteries and chargers.
- Perform in house testing and repair of industrial chargers.
- Make local service calls as needed.
- Responsible for clean and safe work area

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Two year technical degree or equivalent combination of work experience and education preferred
- One to three years of battery industry or related experience and preferably in a field service environment.
- Forklift Training Certification a plus
Skills and Ability:
The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes and traits:
- A desire to work independently and with team
- The ability to quickly analyze situations and make a decision, and provide immediate feedback to the customer.
- Previous customer service experience in field support.
- A basic mechanical aptitude.
- A basic electrical aptitude.
- Previous experience working with hand and power tools.
- Able and willing to travel to customer sites.
- Able to complete in a timely, neat and accurate manner all customer reports including work orders.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record with minimal traffic violations. Must be at least 21 years of age to drive a company vehicle.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a daily continuous basis.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, outlook, excel)
- Must be proficient with Smart Phone, Laptop, and Tablet operation.

Environmental & Physical Demands:
The Field Service Technician position requires indoor/production area work with limited exposure to excessive noise, dust, or temperature changes. The physical demands of this job require the employee to stand for periods of time and perform lifting, bending, and moving items.
Travel:
Occasional travel to company owned branch locations. Overnight travel may be necessary on occasions as customer requests need to be met.
