Job Title
A dynamic and skilled professional is sought to support the Administrator in various activities, ensuring goals are met and regulatory requirements are adhered to.
Main Responsibilities
- Monitor stakeholder communication, meeting arrangements, account balances, website updates, and other activities to achieve set goals and deadlines.
- Oversee office work activities, organizing assignments, monitoring progress, and ensuring completion within established guidelines.
- Prepare and process complex written materials, such as correspondence, agendas, minutes, event programs, bulletins, reports, and more, to communicate information and create documentation.
- Schedule appointments, conference schedules, meetings, travel reservations, facility usage, and other activities to make necessary arrangements for special initiatives or events.
- Work as a migrant recruiter under the district's Title I-C program, following the MEP Recruitment Guide.
- Enter required information into the Migrant web system.
- Attend training sessions for assessments and migrant programs, which may involve out-of-Nome travel.
- Act as the main contact for all migratory education programming and parent outreach.
- Support teachers in developing curriculum maps and pacing guides for K-12, focusing on culturally relevant resources and aligning instruction with Alaska Cultural Standards.
- Maintain and safeguard confidential files.
- Assist with various district assessments.
- Take required professional development training to handle district assessment documents.
- Perform administrative duties, including maintaining student files, updating PowerSchool with demographic data, creating purchase orders, ordering supplies, and more.
Requirements
- Operate standard office equipment, plan and manage projects, prepare accurate records, and utilize delegated authority.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or similar programs is required.
- Utilize the online MEP system for reporting, monitoring, and multiple grant requirements.
Knowledge and Ability
- Basic math skills, reading technical information, composing documents, and analyzing situations to define issues and draw conclusions are required.
- Cultural values, indigenous ways of learning and knowing, and cultural practices for the Bering Strait region are essential knowledge areas.
- Gather, collate, and classify data; work with data using defined processes; and utilize various job-related equipment.
Responsibility
- Work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods.
- Monitor budget expenditures.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding school business.
- Learn and utilize equipment and business applications as they are upgraded.
- Perform duties in full compliance with District and Board of Education policies.
Experience and Education
- Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Training and/or experience working in an office setting or school/district is highly desirable.
