Department Overview

The Corporate Communications team manages all communication activities for Nomura, including Media Relations, Internal Communications, Branding & Marketing and Community Affairs. As a member of the media relations team, you will play a role in promoting and protecting the reputation of the bank. We will look to you to deliver day-to-day promotion of the firm as well as developing and maintaining key relationships with journalists and people throughout the business, providing excellent media relations advice and support.

Role Description

Media Relations

Compile and distribute firm-related media clips to staff daily
Monitor and clip relevant news coverage
Pitch story ideas to reporters
Prepare media briefing notes
Schedule and oversee media training
Draft, edit, review, and distribute press releases
Liaise with the firm’s PR Agency
Coordinate various media-relations activities with the Communications teams in other regions
Respond to media queries when appropriate
Review material destined for the public forum
Assist subject matter experts with the Communications with the Public (CWP) process

Overall Team Support

Answer phones when necessary

Assist other sections when necessary

Skills, Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge Required

Two years of financial communications experience

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

Attention to detail, including good proof-reading skills

Proactive and a problem solver

Ability to navigate a large, complex organization

Strong Computer Skills (MS Office)

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with an emphasis on journalism, communications, public relations, or English literature

base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, corporate and functional title and duties, job-related knowledge and advanced degrees, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and / or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
