POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Programs position requires a proven, forward-thinking individual to provide proactive leadership and vision in developing and managing new, innovative programs for nonprofit organizations. The Director of Programs must possess a clear understanding and empathy for the challenges faced by nonprofit organizations and a firm grasp of nonprofit capacity building. The Director of Programs will provide leadership and direction on the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs, emphasizing measurable outcomes using data and best practices. The Director of Programs will develop partnerships and manage relationships with nonprofits, businesses, and community leaders. Our ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, resourceful and results-oriented, and can balance both strategy and implementation.
Working under the direction of NSG’s Director, the Director of Programs will have strategic and operational responsibility for key program areas through the Impact HQ website and network. The Director of Programs will develop a deep knowledge of each project, program operations and objectives and will provide program leadership and management. The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively with community partners and a high-performance team. The position is remote, with a requirement to attend in person meetings and events when necessary. As a grant funded position, this is a three-year position, with potential to extend.

ABOUT THE NONPROFIT SUPPORT GROUP:
Drawing on our expertise in delivering programming and curating connections for a range of funders, NY Funders Alliance partnered with a funder working group to launch the Nonprofit Support Group to expand opportunities for capacity building providers and nonprofits to connect to resources, skills, and the opportunity to learn from and cooperate with each other. The Nonprofit Support Group (NSG) is a funder working group serving the eight counties of Western New York and Monroe County nonprofit community through introducing and connecting to innovative capacity-building supports. We are inspired and informed by the community. We serve by seeking to understand the sector's needs, connecting nonprofits to capacity building resources through comprehensive learning opportunities that enable nonprofits to accomplish their missions better, and by convening nonprofits for peer support, learning, and impactful conversations. Impact HQ is an online information hub with easy to navigate content; assessment tools to identify and address needs; peer-to-peer information sharing and support; and catalogued, searchable technical assistance and funding opportunities to provide nonprofits a single front door for accessing needed capacity building resources targeted to their needs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
•
Work closely with the NSG Director and partners to articulate and attain Impact HQ program vision and goals.
•
Act as primary lead for NSG programs under Impact HQ; provide strategic management and planning of NSG programs and initiatives.
•
Support the NSG Director in the identification of new opportunities, development of funding proposals, and subsequent reporting of program performance under Impact HQ to ensure continuous delivery of services.
•
Manage, maintain, and evolve the Impact HQ website, ensuring up-to-date and relevant content.
•
Ensure Impact HQ programs are well run, meet program, and contract deliverables, and operate within the approved budgets. Create, implement, and uphold policies and procedures to meet these goals.
•
Represent NSG/Impact HQ to various external audiences in meetings, conferences, and events, including planning committees and task forces where appropriate.
•
Work closely with the NSG Director to support strategic partnership development and relationship building with cross-sector entities locally and nationally.
Nonprofit Resource Navigation & Support
•
Support organizations as they seek to build capacity through professional service providers specializing in areas including, but not limited to, talent, operations, funding and resources, organizational culture, strategy and planning, program development, management and evaluation, and leadership and governance.
•
Develop relationships with a wide variety of local and national service providers, ever working to support the best possible matches for organizations while also keeping a mindset of increasing equity in the opportunity pool for a diverse range of professionals who support nonprofit work.
Program Development, Direction and Management
•
Manage existing Impact HQ program portfolio and work with NSG Director and partners to develop new opportunities.
•
Work with partners to plan, design, and deliver NSG programs for Impact HQ from inception to evaluation.
•
Integrate the skills and expertise of a talented network of professionals in ways that reinforce and support the mission and goals of NSG.
•
Support an environment of collaboration and accountability, where roles and expectations are clearly established, but flexibility is highly valued, and creativity is welcomed.
•
Facilitate or co-facilitate networking, relationship building, and working groups of nonprofit organizations and partners.
•
Keep abreast of cutting-edge and emerging trends locally, nationally, and globally around innovative and equitable nonprofit practices, programs, and solutions.
•
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required. Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will possess strong program management acumen, be familiar with the nonprofit sector, be detail & solution oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. They will be a self-starter, highly motivated, and able to manage several projects at once who possess forward-thinking programmatic experience and demonstrate the ability to nurture stakeholder relationships by serving as a credible thought leader capable of providing strategic guidance to support our mission driven initiatives. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Embraces and advances diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging practice
- At least 7 years of experience in program leadership and management, specifically those with multiple and diverse stakeholders, is required. Nonprofit experience is a plus.
- Minimum of a BA/BS and/or equivalent experience in Program Management, Nonprofit Management, Community & Economic Development; master’s degree preferred. Professional certification and years of experience at a ratio of 2:1 may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing program models and successfully operationalizing programs.
- Experience working with community-based coalitions and organizations, capacity building efforts, technical assistance and group facilitation.
- Strong project management skills managing complex, multifaceted projects resulting in measurable successes and program growth with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience working in a high-performance, collaborative, constructive peer group.
- Ability to handle a variety of constituencies, manage multiple tasks, and thrive in a complex environment with multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical skills and experience developing and managing project workplans, timelines and budgets.
- A working knowledge of the nonprofit sector is required, with deep WNY/Monroe experience or knowledge strongly preferred.
- A high degree of intercultural competence and commitment to supporting a diverse set of experiences and is welcoming and inclusive to all backgrounds and identities; experience leading work through an equity lens is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Demonstrated facility with Microsoft Office Suite of products.

COMPENSATION OVERVIEW
This is a full-time, exempt, position with a competitive non-profit salary range starting from $70,000 to $85,000 annually and equal to experience. NY Funders Alliance offers an excellent benefits package, medical, vision, and dental for employees, a generous retirement contribution and paid time off including paid holidays, sick time, and generous vacation.
