Key Responsibilities

As a Transportation Engineer (Roadway Design and Infrastructure), you will :

Develop innovative design criteria and create horizontal and vertical alignments, including superelevation design and design calculations for roadway projects.

Prepare detailed contract documents, construction plans, and proposal packages using the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Plan Development Guide and Design Wiki.

Utilize advanced 3D modeling tools to develop accurate and precise project designs.

Design and implement effective traffic control plans to ensure project safety and efficiency.

Conduct fieldwork to assess existing conditions, perform condition assessments, and document findings.

Prepare cost estimates, special provisions, and ensure compliance with corporate Quality Assurance Plans.

Collaborate with sales teams to craft compelling proposals for client RFPs.

Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and symposia to enhance visibility and foster client relationships.

Mentor and supervise junior engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering professional growth within the team.

Qualifications

Education : Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or a related field.

Licensure : Professional Engineering (PE) license required.

Experience : Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.

Technical Expertise :

Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation and MDOT OpenRoads Designer (ORD) Connect Edition.

Strong understanding of Transportation Management Plans (TMP) based on MDOT Workzone Safety and Mobility Manual.

Experience in Hydraulic Analysis, Bridge and Culvert Modeling, and Scour Analysis.

Proficiency in Drainage Studies, Storm Sewer Design, and implementing Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs).

Skills :

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Leadership and mentoring abilities to guide junior staff.

Multitasking and deadline management capabilities.
