JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the HR Benefit Specialist the HR Specialist will perform a variety of day-to-day administrative HR duties responsibilities include filing, the recruiting process and data entry.
In addition, this position will assist the Administrative Receptionist by covering their Morning and Afternoon Breaks as well as Lunch breaks daily.
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in entering and maintaining data entered into the HRIS system and assures information is available on a timely basis.
- Provides basic assistance and information to employees, applicants.
- Researches and answers questions from e-mail, in-person and telephone contacts from the general public and employees.
- Updates and maintains both the manual and automated filing systems used to store and track records/information.
- Creates, maintains, updates and tracks Employee Personnel and Confidential files, ensuring accuracy and complete.
- Assist in job openings and postings and maintains the applicant flow process.
- Accepts applications for opened positions and develops and maintains the job announcement files.
- Conducts employment and applicant credential verifications as requested.
- Assist in scheduling and conducting interviews for departments as well as secures interview room, develop questions and packets.
OTHER DUTIES:
Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are required for the incumbent to have, in order to be considered for the position.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION:
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Associates Degree from an accredited university or college
or
two (2) years of experience directly related to the area of responsibilityREQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES POSITION:
- Proven ability to effectively prioritize multiple assignments while meeting deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally ad in writing with employees and the general public.
- Maintain confidentiality in daily operations.
- Fluent in MS Office, including WORD and EXCEL and PowerPoint preferred.
- Experience performing data entry work.
- Ability to conduct duties in a professional, courteous manner.
- Work requires an extensive knowledge of business and an excellent command of the English language Must have knowledge of office administrative procedures.
REQUIRED CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must pass alcohol/drug test at time of hire and throughout employment. Must pass criminal background check at time of hire and periodically thereafter.
REQUIRED LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid Washington State Driver’s License and meet the insurability requirements of the Tribe. - The standard work week is 8:30-5:00 Monday through Friday.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods and frequently required to talk and listen.
- Sitting for extended periods while at a desk or in meetings.
- Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, calculator, and telephone system
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds without assistance occasionally.
- Typical office setting with environmentally controlled conditions.
- Read, write, speak and understand English
- Ability to listen, understands customers, and has the ability to translate rules, regulations, and policies to clients so they understand the issues/problems.
- Operate in mentally and physically stressful situations with composure.
- May have to walk/drive between office locations under a variety of conditions. Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip from assigned work areas.

- Experience working in a Tribal Government.
- Familiar with HRIS systems (specifically ADP Workforce Now).
- AAS Degree from an accredited College or University
