The Machine Operator supports the production process by operating a laser system to cut metal objects such as plates and sheets to specified dimensions and angles.
This is a 1st shift position, Monday - Friday (6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.). Some overtime may be required.
Essential Job Functions
- Read routers and customer or Nor-ell supplied drawings to select proper materials.
- Follow established procedures for setting up the materials onto the machine.
- Load established cut programs for orders.
- Start the machine and run program, verifying cut material to print.
- Select proper gas and adjust controls as required.
- Inspect part and organize as machine is running.
- Maintain production records such as quantities, types and dimensions of materials produced.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to read calipers and basic blueprints.
- Read and understand instructions in English.
- Simple addition and subtraction; use a calculator.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to do exacting and precise work.
- A good eye for quality.
- Will train someone with basic skills or who can learn easily.
Preferred Experience
- Previous manufacturing environment experience.
The Machine Operator primarily works in a temperature-controlled room, and sometimes in the general factory production areas which may be hot and noisy. When appropriate, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided, though generally not needed or required, except for safety glasses.
