What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Mechanic position at Nor-Ell Incorporated?
Nor-ell is looking for a talented Maintenance Mechanic to make repairs and maintain equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines and equipment. This is a 1st shift position (6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), working Monday - Friday, with some evening and weekend overtime, as needed.
The Maintenance Mechanic supports both the Fridley and St. Paul locations of Nor-ell.

Every day brings something different on the job as a Maintenance Mechanic at Nor-ell. Some days the work may involve troubleshooting equipment issues and dismantling equipment to remove and repair/replace defective parts. Installation of special functional and structural parts may also be required. Lubrication and cleaning parts is something this done fairly regularly, according to the PM schedule. You may also set up and operate a lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools. Initiating purchase orders for parts comes with the territory also. Routine preventative maintenance is a must as well.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical maintenance, as well as some experience with welding.
Requirements
- Two-year technical school degree or acquired skills through on-the-job-training.
- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
- Forklift certified or be willing to get certified once hired.
- Competent in welding, fabricating and electrical troubleshooting; may include PLCs programing.
- Basic math skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Understand electrical and mechanical drawings to troubleshoot machinery and make repairs.
- Ability to work independently or possibly with others in a group setting on projects.
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to perform a variety of physical activities which include standing, bending and sitting for periods of time.
- Basic computer and email skills.
