What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Operations Assistant position at NorCal Interscholastic Cycling League?
OVERVIEW
In this a seasonal position, you will work with a dedicated team to product high quality mountain bike races. You will work with the Operations Manager to help set-up, run, and take-down NorCal League races. The Operations Assistant works on setting up, maintaining, and taking down Feed Zone, start/finish zone, vendor zone, and more. The Operations Assistant is also available to take on various projects and tasks as directed by the Operations Manager or Race Director. They often lead volunteers, and they always work within the framework of a larger team. The Operations Assistants are the dedicated physical force that help make NorCal races happen. Do note that this is a lobor intenive position.
RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS
- Assist in the onsite production of mountain biking events from start to finish.
- Set-up, maintain, and breakdown specific areas of the infield (start/finish and vendor zones), and greater race venue; all under the guidance of the Operations Manager.
- Set up, maintain, and breakdown infield support equipment such as generators, PA system, and signage; all under the guidance of the Operations Manager.
- Guide volunteers on various tasks; all under the guidance of the Operations Manager or Volunteer Coordinator.
- Run errands on and off property for the Operations Manager and/or Race Director as needed
- Help load and unload the equipment trailer, and keep it and the surrounding area organized throughout the weekend
- Fill in where needed to support the event (e.g. parking, start/finish line management, course setting, sanitation management, etc.)
- Manage sanitation areas
- Dispose of garbage as needed
- Be available to work a minimum of 5 select weekends from February through May.
- Engage with spectators, coaches, and athletes with a customer service-like approach.
- Follow compliance with health and safety regulations and rules during events.
- Able to pass a background check
- Ability to travel to via car various to venues throughout Northern California.

COMMITMENT

- Ideal commitment is 2 seasons
COMPENSATION
- This is a contract position with a daily rate of $200.
- All meals and lodging are included (some weekends we camp so you must provide your own camping gear for sleeping needs).
