Position Summary
The role of Plant HSE Technician directly supports the company’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As a North America Nacelles Plant HSE Technician, you will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating safety equipment promote the HSE culture and foster good practices and safe behaviors in the Nacelle production site. Support includes coaching, teaching, and training plant personnel on safe operating behaviours and the design, development, and implementation of safety and risk control programs. Functions as a subject matter expert and consultant to help internal clients build sustainable loss improvement processes within their operations. The HSE Technician will also be responsible for promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the plant.

The HSE Technician will also be responsible for promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the plant.
What You’ll Do
- Support the HSE Plant Manager/Plant Manager on the developing, implementing, and maintaining core Industrial Safety and Hygiene policies, procedures, and systems based on ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System to simplify and streamline the Nordex USA Manufacturing, LLC. program requirements.
- Support the department in the harmonization and implementation of the new Management System for Nacelles.
- Support with regulatory analysis, advice, and expertise for emerging, proposed, and existing regulations at Federal, State, and Local levels
- Provides support for preparing regulatory reports, or other compliance submittals.
- Analyze unsafe situations identified within the plant and support/coach with corrective actions.
- Participates in maintaining the Plant Safety Plan with updates and compliance.
- Provide HSE Training to members of the plant to comply with requirements.
- Monitor the HSE Alerts, Notices and Best Practices implementation
- Monitor the proposals for HSE improvement actions
- Support the plant on topics related HSE when needed.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures
- Conduct regular safety and environmental audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement
- Support with investigation of accidents and incidents to determine root causes and develop corrective actions
- Participate in the development and implementation of emergency response plans
- Other duties as assigned.
- Technical degree, HSE degree or other university qualifications
- OSHA, or other relevant certification preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in HSE in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to HSE
- Experience with programmatic (Compliance and Performance) audits/inspections including record keeping, and action-item resolution
- 3 years of progressively responsible experience in HSE, manufacturing is desirable.
- Able to complete OSHA 30.
- Strong HSE engagement and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills are essential, most importantly strong team-building skills within a rapidly growing environment.
- Must be capable of positively influencing the team when necessary.
- Proficient in the following application programs: Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat Standard.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish desirable.
- Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
- Properly use applicable safety equipment, including but not limited to eye protection, hearing protectors, steel-toe boots, and hard hats. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure a safe working environment.
- Speak and understand English fluently to effectively communicate safety and job-related information, follow safety instructions, and collaborate with English-speaking supervisors and team members.
