Job Description
Under the supervision of the Upper School Director, the Upper School Math Teacher will provide a welcoming and encouraging environment for all students to explore and understand concepts in math using problem solving, observational skills, and experimentation. He or she will aid students in the exploration of math concepts, using mathematical practices in the math classroom. He or she will facilitate understanding and competencies within the core of each math discipline.
This position will teach the following classes:
Sixth grade math, Accelerated sixth grade math, and Algebra
Qualifications
- A strong, personal faith in Christ lived out in Christian character and worldview
- Bachelor's degree in the applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
- Must have or be eligible for a teaching license from VDOE
Contract Details
- Contracted by the Head of School upon recommendation of the school administrator for one year.
- Responsible to School Directors
- Supervises Students and Volunteers
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and translate lesson plans into learning opportunities
- Integrate a Biblical worldview into classroom teaching
- Integrate technology into subject area
- Instruct students in their specialization subject area
- Differentiate teaching materials to guide and challenge students at all levels
- Assess and evaluate students’ competencies in the subject area
- Maintain appropriate records and progress of students
- Communicate effectively with students and parents
- Maintain standards of student behavior and supervise students
- Maintain professional competence through professional development
- Participate in curriculum development, faculty meetings and student sponsorship as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned or required
