Norfolk Collegiate seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Upper School Biology Teacher to join our faculty for the 2025-2026 academic year. This position will be responsible for teaching regular and Advanced Placement Biology courses, advising a small group of upper school students, and supporting the school's mission through collaboration and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach multiple sections of Biology and AP Biology, with the possibility of additional science electives based on background and interest
- Create engaging, hands-on learning experiences in the lab and classroom
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to support diverse learning styles
- Guide students in developing critical thinking, data analysis, and scientific writing skills
- Serve as an advisor to a group of upper school students, providing academic and personal support
- Collaborate with science department colleagues to align curriculum and best practices
- Participate in school life, including meetings, student events, and co-curricular programs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field; advanced degrees are valued.
- Experience teaching high school science; AP Biology teaching experience preferred
- Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills
- Familiarity with integrating technology into science instruction
