Job description
This job is a civilian position and does not require military service (including commission and enlistment)
DUTIES:
- You will inspect, track and inventory all incoming/outgoing/in-storage WHM-HW to maintain compliance with all applicable Federal, State Regulations and NNSY Hazardous Waste Operating Permits.
- You will perform pre-shipment checks and inspections, and assembly for shipping, for HW-WHM designated for disposal.
- You will provide guidance to waste generators, shops/code environmental coordinators, project teams, planners, and engineers.
-You will collect composite, thief, and grab samples in accordance with established sample collection protocols

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-9: Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience within federal and/or private sector equivalent to a GS-7, specialized experience defined as:
Experience applying knowledge of environmental protection concepts, regulations and practices of State, Federal and local statutes and the full range of duties that apply to the environmental protection program, with primary emphasis on waste management, disposal, collection and proper storage.
Experience with administering and management of hazardous waste or material from generation, identification, chemical characterization, quality control, labeling, marking, sampling and storage to final shipment and disposal
Experience with environmental sampling techniques pertinent to the characterization of wastes for proper disposal.
Experience with reading and interpreting blueprints, construction drawings, schematics and house interface system.
Experience with inventory practices such as establishing and managing permanent and temporary hazardous waste storage sites as they pertain to bulk and non-bulk programs.
OR
master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
