About the Position NRHA seeks qualified candidates for the position of Administrative Assistant for the public housing communities of Calvert Square and Oak Leaf Forrest in Norfolk, Virginia. This role performs receptionist and administrative support duties on behalf of an assigned public housing community, interacting with residents, calculating rent amounts, processing work orders; data entry, and assuring proper processing of tenants.
Key responsibilities of this position include :
- Greeting office visitors
- Responding to telephone calls, especially resident inquiries.
- Meeting with new residents, preparing forms, and explaining standard community policies and procedures.
- Calculating rent amounts and recalculate rents when a resident has a change in income.
- Entering resident and work order data into computer databases.
- Processing vacating residents.
- Creating, maintaining, and updating resident files.
- Monitoring work to assure that the community complies with federal, state, and local housing regulations.
- Maintaining a professional image and serve as a representative of NRHA.
The ideal candidate for this job will have :
Candidates with prior public housing and rent calculation experience will be preferred.
NRHA will consider equivalent substitutes for education and / or experience, provided that the candidate can demonstrate that he / she has obtained the knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the job.
