What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Aide position at Norlite Nursing Center?
We're looking for one energetic, fun-loving professional to join our team!
Norlite is hiring a part-time Activities Aide to bring smiles to our Residents' faces.
Essentially, your job is to ensure our Residents are ENGAGED throughout the day! Norlite boasts 18-20 separate group activities each day.
General Duties include running the group & individual programs based on resident need, ability, and interest. Examples of Group Activities include Happy Hour, Chair Exercise, Bingo, Trivia, Broom Hockey, Arts & Crafts, Nail Painting, Men's Group, Culinary, Gardening, Kickball and many more!
Individual Resident activities sessions are also part of the responsibilities of the Activities Coordinator. Many Residents choose to not join large groups, so 1:1 sessions are essential for their psychosocial wellbeing. Setting up puzzles, books, playing card games and general 1:1 conversations are examples of individual sessions.
The Activities Aide leads the charge in recruitment for Residents to participate. Often, Residents will need motivation to join in on the fun, and need assistance to participate.
Technology assistance is another aspect of the position. Many Residents need help accessing the Wi-Fi or with connecting to family members via Facetime or Zoom.
As expected in healthcare, documentation is the other priority responsibility of the Activities Coordinator. It's essential that we capture the Resident's participation and enjoyment level of each Activity, so we can continue to gauge the Residents' involvement and mold the Care Plan as necessary.
The Activities Aide reports to the Activities Director & Assistant Director. There is an every-other-weekend requirement. Shifts are either 8-4 or 12:30-8:30 and there will likely be a mix of both each week.
