The Cath Lab CV Technologist is an integral part of the cardiovascular program at Norman Regional Health System, responsible for preparing equipment, maintaining a sterile environment, and providing patient care during procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Equipment Preparation: Prepare and maintain equipment before and during procedures to ensure optimal performance.
- Patient Care: Identify and assess patient condition, prepare, position, and provide patient care as required.
- Sterile Environment: Establish and maintain a sterile environment to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
- Preceptorship: Serve as a preceptor for new hires and radiology students, participating in their orientation and mentoring process.
- Tasks and Downtime: Utilize downtime effectively by stocking rooms, checking equipment, and completing delegated tasks assigned by Charge person or manager.
- Professional Relationships: Maintain strong professional working relationships with physicians and leadership to facilitate excellent patient care.
Requirements:
- Cath Lab RT Orientation: Complete Cath Lab RT Orientation within 6 months of employment.
- Competencies: Complete all competencies listed in department policy within 6 months.
Education and Experience:
- Radiologic Technology Program: Completion of a 24-month formal program or military program of Radiologic Technology with eligibility for American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification and/or current Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS).
- Procedural Area Experience: Previous Procedural Area experience is preferred.
Certifications and Training:
- ARRT Certification: Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and/or RCIS certification.
- CV or CI Certification: Cardiovascular (CV) or (CI) and/or (VI) certification is preferred.
- BLS Training: Basic Life Support (BLS) training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care, and must be maintained through re-training for duration of employment.
- ACLS Training: ACLS training must be achieved within 6 months of hire and maintained through duration of employment.
