Clinical Dietitian-PRN at Norman Regional Health System
As a Clinical Dietitian-PRN, I conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and provide ongoing care and education to patients and healthcare staff. I ensure proper dietary practices are implemented based on individual patient needs and maintain compliance with licensure, certification, and ongoing education requirements. My focus includes staying updated on nutritional research and best practices in various subspecialties such as diabetes, cardiology, and oncology.
Responsibilities:
- Provides initial nutrition assessment of patient condition.
- Provides ongoing reassessment and follow-up care.
- Provides nutrition education services for patient and staff.
- Other duties.
Qualifications:
Education:
Required: Any program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that leads to registration as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD/RDN). Basic knowledge of subspecialty area (including nutrition support, diabetes, cardiology, renal, oncology, etc.) Must obtain approximately 15 hours of continuing education credits per calendar year. Keep current of new findings/research.
Experience:
Preferred: Six months of clinical experience in an acute care facility preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Required: Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an Oklahoma State Dietitian license must be achieved within the first 6 months of employment. Must obtain a food handler's permit from the Cleveland County Health department before hire (or within 1 week of hire). Completion of general and patient care orientation is required prior to providing patient care.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Required: Must be able to use decision-making skills to make rational & quick decisions regarding prioritizing of patient care. Have the foresight to recognize unsafe work conditions and/or practices. The ability to safely use chemicals and equipment for the patients, visitors, and staff. Knowledge base for use of different formulas when assessing patient's nutritional needs.
