Job Description
The Registered Clinical Dietitian at Norman Regional Health System plays a vital role in providing initial and ongoing nutrition assessments and education to patients and staff. This part-time position requires registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and a state license, along with clinical experience in an acute care setting.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To excel in this role, you must have:
- Any program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that leads to registration as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD/RDN).
- Broad knowledge of subspecialty areas, including nutrition support, diabetes, cardiology, renal, and oncology.
- Maintenance of approximately 15 hours of continuing education credits per calendar year to stay current with new findings and research.
Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing initial nutrition assessments of patient conditions.
- Providing ongoing reassessment and follow-up care.
- Delivering nutrition education services for patients and staff.
Qualifications
In addition to meeting the required skills and qualifications, preferred candidates will have:
- Six months of clinical experience in an acute care facility.
Licensure and Certifications
You must be registered with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and obtain an Oklahoma State Dietitian license within the first six months of employment. Additionally, you will need to obtain a food handler's permit from the Cleveland County Health department before hire or within one week of hire.
