The Clinical Dietitian-PRN delivers high-quality patient care through comprehensive nutrition assessments and ongoing support. This role demands collaboration with healthcare staff, ensuring they stay current with the latest research and practices in nutrition. Managing dietary needs across various specialties, including oncology, diabetes, and renal care, is a critical responsibility within an acute care setting.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough initial nutrition assessments of patient conditions.
- Provide ongoing reassessments and follow-up care tailored to individual patient needs.
- Offer expert nutrition education services for both patients and staff members.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Required: Completion of a program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics leading to registration as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD/RDN). Proficiency in subspecialty areas, including nutrition support, diabetes, cardiology, renal, and oncology. Maintain approximately 15 hours of continuing education credits per calendar year, staying updated on new findings and research.
Preferred Experience:
At least six months of clinical experience in an acute care facility.
Licensure/Certification:
Required: Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an Oklahoma State Dietitian license must be achieved within the first six months of employment. Obtain a food handler's permit from the Cleveland County Health department before hiring or within one week of hire. Complete general and patient care orientation prior to providing patient care.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
Must possess decision-making skills to prioritize patient care effectively. Recognize unsafe work conditions and take proactive measures. Safely use chemicals and equipment for patients, visitors, and staff. Develop knowledge of different formulas when assessing patient nutritional needs.
