What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift Plastic Extrusion Machine Operator position at Norres Baggerman | North America?
Norres North America is a leading hose manufacturer located in South Bend, IN. We are looking for experienced plastic extrusion machine operators for our growing team. We are a small subsidiary of the multinational Norres Baggerman Group headquartered in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Job responsibilities:
- Complete machine setup and operation of PLASTIC extrusion machines.
- Measuring, grading, and feeding batches of raw materials into production machinery.
- Trouble shooting issues that come up during production, fix problems with machine setup.
- Monitoring the production process and carrying out basic testing and quality checks.
- Packing goods ready for shipment in crates or other containers.
- Reporting equipment faults to Production Manager & Maintenance.
- Cleaning and maintaining work areas and machinery.
- Additional duties as identified by management.
Essential Competencies/Skills:
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow production instructions, closely monitor machine operations and product quality.
- Technical Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve machine issues quickly.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with production teams and maintenance staff.
- Autonomy: Ability to create work plan, stay on task and work independently with little supervision as needed.
- Safety-Conscious: A proactive approach to maintaining a safe working environment..
- Strong mechanical aptitude: general mechanical reasoning, visual/spatial relations abilities, and general tool knowledge.
- Proficient Math skills: measurement and calculation of raw materials, knowledge of common measurement tools such as calipers/scales, knowledge of metric system and ability to convert between metric and US standard. Basic addition, subtraction, and counting.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and or move up to 50 lbs. throughout the entire shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend and stoop.
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle and feel.
- Specific vision abilities required for various jobs include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
- Able to wear proper PPE - safety glasses & steel toed boots
Scheduled work hours:
- Full time (40 hours/wk)
- Non-Exempt
- 2nd shift production is currently 4 day/10hour shifts running Monday-Thursday 3pm-1:30am
- MUST have availability to train on 1st shift (6am-4:30 M-Th) for several weeks
- If overtime is needed, the team will typically work an additional 8 hours on Fridays.
- Schedule is subject to change based on production needs.
Compensation and Benefits:
