Job Summary
Registered Nurse is the designation given to an individual who is licensed to practice professional nursing, holds ultimate responsibility for direct and indirect nursing care, is a graduate of an approved school for professional nursing, and is currently licensed as a Registered Nurse pursuant to M.G.L. c.112. Included in such responsibility is providing nursing care, health maintenance, teaching, counseling, planning and restoration for optimal functioning and comfort, of those they serve. The Registered Professional Nurse functions as a health care team leader responsible for the safe delivery of patient-centered, goal-oriented care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Registered Professional Nurse also directs and guides patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
Experience
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Has a thorough knowledge of nursing principles and procedures.
Education and Training
- Associate's degree in nursing. BSN preferred.
License, Certification & Registration
- RN License - Currently licensed as an RN in Massachusetts
- CPR, ACLS within 6 months of hire.
- TNCC and PALS required within one year.
Other Requirements
- Demonstrates continuing education in accordance with State regulations.
- Assures compliance with unit-specific scope of practice.
- Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so the requirements of the position can be fully met.
- Two years previous either medical/surgical or ED experience preferred.
- IV experience preferred.
- May be required to float to perioperative services pre/post areas at NARH and med/surg and ED at other BHS campuses.
Master Schedule
MNA Union Position
24 hrs/wk, Shift 3, 11 p.m. -7:30 a
Week 1: Sun Wed Thurs Week 2: Wed Fri Sat.
Week 3: Sun Wed Thurs Week 4: Wed Fri Sat.
Rotating Holidays, Rotating Weekends, Variable Days
Will require orientation/float to ED within facility, may require floating to other BMC facility
